Always in my heart
A light in the dark for homeless, abandoned, abused or unwanted pets.

Urgent! A devestating earthquake followed by days of landslides and tremors has hit many of the communities around the Lighthouse shelter. Hundreds of domestic animals have been left homeless without food or water, their owners deceased. Please go to the Latest News page for further information.

Welcome to the Lighthouse Animal Rescue website. Lighthouse is an "in home" shelter in Costa Rica for pets who have lost their former homes. While here, they are socialized and any medical needs are taken care of. On the Happy Endings page, you can see pictures and read stories of some of the pets who have gotten loving homes through our efforts.

Check the Adoptable Pets page for pictures and background information on the pets patiently waiting for new families to call their own. If you're considering a furry addition to your family, please visit this page to see if you might find just what you're looking for. Prior to adoption, you will need to fill out my adoption application. There is an adoption fee of $100. to reimburse the expenses of spaying or neutering, vaccinations, heartworm check (if old enough), fecal exam, and any needed medications. Please note, a home visit will be scheduled as the final step in the approval of your application.

Be sure and check out the Before and After page. It provides a glimpse into the cruelty, abuse, and neglect that Lightouse Animal Rescue deals with every day. It will also show you what the adoption fees and donations are used for.

Lighthouse Animal Rescue is a no kill shelter located in Costa Rica. The dogs in our care come from a variety of sources and situations. Some have been abandoned by their former owners; some have been abused or neglected; some have medical problems their former owners couldn't afford to treat; some have been rescued from kill shelters, and some are retired breeders. Some are mixed breeds, but many are purebred. Quite often, they're perfectly wonderful pets whose owners just couldn't keep them any longer. All need and deserve homes where they will be loved and cared for on a permanent basis.

My personal favorite is the American Eskimo dog. Please click here to learn more about them. Heart Bandits American Eskimo Rescue is a national Eskie rescue organization - you can visit their site by clicking here. A new window will open, so you won't lose the Lighthouse site.

God has "dominion" over man.
He gave man "dominion" over the animals
Shouldn't we treat them like we want God to treat us?
